Each piece begins as silk dyed with coconut husk, which gives the soft, earthy base color. The diamond pattern is then sewn by hand into the silk and the fabric is dipped in indigo, one of the oldest plant dyes on Earth. The diamonds bloom a little differently every time, so no two pieces are the same.
